Feed Buyers Group
We're a group of small farms and homesteads in western North Carolina who combine orders for bags of Sunrise Farms livestock feed and supplements, to qualify for large-order, direct-from-the-mill discounts on feed and shipping. Our discount is typically 1/3 or more off the retail price of comparable feed.
Why Sunrise Farms? They're a family farm in central Virginia that mills high-quality livestock feed both for their own animals and for sale to other farms; they also re-package a wide variety of animal and soil supplements in 50-lb bags that you can order through our group. All of their feed is non-GMO, optionally soy-free, and much of it is milled fresh when we place our order. Sunrise's feeds are NOT certified organic, but for those of us who aren't certified ourselves, their feeds offer some of the benefits of organic at a much lower cost.
Here's how our group works: About a month before orders are due, we email an order form with current prices to our mailing list. (Please send us an email, using the box at the bottom of this page, if you'd like us to email you the current order form.)
Each time you order, you'll need to print out the current order form, mark it up with the items you want, and mail it with a check to "Hap Mountain Herbal" at PO Box 783, Hot Springs, NC 28743. You'll pay Sunrise's pick-up-at-the-mill prices for 50-lb bags of feed or supplements, plus a per-bag shipping charge: $2.50/bag for 10-100 bags, $1.50/bag if you order more than 100 bags. Minimum order size is ten 50-lb bags (1/4 ton).
If your farm has an NC state sales tax exemption for farm supplies, please enclose a copy of that with your first order. If your farm is NOT exempt, you'll need to include 6.75% tax with payment for your order.
About picking up your order: It will be shipped on pallets to the loading dock at the Madison County extension office in Marshall, NC. (We'll email you directions after you've placed your order.) Please come prepared to gather your bags from their shipping pallets and load them onto your vehicle, either on a pallet with the pallet jack and lift gate at the loading dock, or onto a cart you can roll onto the lift gate if a loaded pallet won't fit on your vehicle. Please also check the capacity of your truck or trailer: Can you carry everything you ordered in one load?
