One of our araucana hens gave us an enormous egg this week--nearly four ounces. That's the size of TWO medium eggs! Too big to fit into an egg carton, so we ate it for breakfast yesterday. Bill wanted me to take a photo for posterity. Here it is.

We've got about 8 or 9 inches on the ground here this morning. Very cold, in the upper teens, so it's a fluffy, clean sort of snow.

During the winter, clusters of our chickens usually gather here on sunny days:



This spot, right by the main gate, is where the sun reaches their pasture earliest on winter mornings. Even on cold days, it's a nice warm place to bask. Also a good place for them to keep...
