Our herbal remedies are made with plants we harvest wild or grow organically at or near our remote mountain home, in western North Carolina. Our product line is limited so it can be sustainable and healthy for the plants we grow and harvest, for our garden and forest, for ourselves as a small family business, and for you, our customer.
Why buy from us?
First and foremost, because our medicinal plants grow in an exceptionally healthy environment: in good rich forest, organic-garden soil, or clean hillside turf. Most of what we harvest grows on our own land; sometimes we harvest herbs growing no more that a few miles farther away, in places where we know the soil and water are safe and clean.
Our home-and-garden is a small clearing surrounded by thousands of acres of biodiverse natural hardwood forest. We're the last house up our road, a mile past the nearest neighbor, with no human development uphill from us in this watershed. Our water supply is a clean, clear, delicious mountain spring. We know that living here is healthy for us. We believe that growing here ensures purity and may enrich the medicinal properties of the plants we harvest.
Second, when you buy from us you know exactly what you're getting. Our product descriptions say exactly what plant species, plant parts, and other ingredients are in each product, and show photos of plants grown or selected for harvest right here. We harvest by hand, at the best time for each herb, and process our herbs in small batches to ensure quality. If you want more information about our herbs or their processing, please don't hesitate to ask.
Finally, when you buy from us, you're helping to support a small, family homestead enterprise. We hope you find that as satisfying as we do.
How is our business "sustainable"?
We limit what we grow and harvest to fit what our garden and forest can sustainably produce. When we harvest wild plants, we leave enough to allow them to reproduce and remain abundant. Likewise, in and around our garden we aim to build rather than deplete soil quality and biodiversity. For these reasons, the mix of products we sell, and the quantity of each, will vary from year to year and season to season.
We limit our business to a size appropriate for supporting a family homestead, rather than for production on an industrial scale.
We limit what we sell to products we believe can be beneficial and are unlikely to cause harm.
Before you buy...
Please, please do your own research before using our or anyone else's herbal or other medicinal preparations. If you're being treated by a doctor or other practitioner, please consult him or her before taking any medicinal herb that might affect your treatment. Please be especially cautious about possible interactions among herbal and other remedies.
While we believe that our product descriptions are accurate about how and why others have chosen to use the herbs in each product, we cannot and do not warrant that anything we sell is right for your specific circumstances. We do warrant that our products contain exactly what their descriptions say.
Thanks for your interest.
